Teen Writer-in-Residence, Ayah Abdul Rauf, will write and collage in her current journal each Thursday in July at the Central Resource Library. Drop in and visit with Ayah and check out her collection of over 100 journals.

Ayah is 17 years old. Ayah is an avid library volunteer and an amazing writer. She became involved with the library because of elementia. She says that, “after being published in elementia, I wanted to get involved further because I realized how much the library had to offer.”Since being published in elementia, Ayah has become the lead facilitator of Creative Commons, a creative writing workshop for high school students at Central Resource Library. She also leads a creative writing group for middle school students at the Shawnee branch and co-teaches a comic drawing and writing workshop for teens at Central.

During the month of July, Ayah will lead “My Imaginary Muse," a workshop for creative middle school students. The workshop will include journaling, art creations and creative writing. Ages 11-13; space is limited. To register call 913-495-2490 beginning June 19. Please specify your workshop preference at registration.
An event to honor the creative work of photographer Lauren Chance, writer Ayah Abdul Rauf, and the young people they inspired; reception will be a casual afternoon in honor and appreciation of creativity.
