Teen Fashion Shows

The 2010 Fashion Show was on Saturday, April 17 at the Central Resource Library, and it rocked! There was great music, avant garde fashions and passionate poetry. Check out the highlights in our video:

Poetry in Motion—Runway & Rhymes is an annual fashion show sponsored by Johnson County Library. Local teen designers create "fashion lines" inspired from poetry, music lyrics and other forms of literature. We encourage individual fashion designers and fashion classes to get involved in this extravagant evening of runways and rhymes.

School Involvement
In past shows, KSMS, the radio broadcasting system at Shawnee Mission South, has run the DJ booth, fashion students from Broadmoor Technical School and Blue Valley Academy have created designs to grace the runway, and poets from Shawnee Mission North rocked the open mic. To get more information regarding school involvement, contact School Liaison, Erin Downey Howerton.

Community Involvement
Collaboration with the community is very important to the success of the fashion show. Paul Mitchell the School provides free hair and makeup for designers and models, and each year we involve local, eclectic boutiques by featuring donated clothing. The featured boutiques have been LuLu’s, Revue, Donna’s Dress Shop, and DairDevil Boards.
