2009 Teen Writer-in-Residence

Leslie Goodwin is a freshman at KU and majoring in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing and minoring in Women’s Studies. Leslie prefers to write fictional pieces that tend to be short to long stories. She has won the Rare Inspirations writing contest, she was the grand prize winner of the Stop Underage Drinking Essay Contest, and wrote and gave the Senior Oration at her high school graduation in 2008. Leslie interned for the Spring Semester of 2009 for credit hours at the Central Resource Library with Angel Dew. She is the facilitator for Creative Commons, a creative writing workshop for high school students, and the teen creative writing blog, Candid Smiles and Vogue Rockstars.

Leslie will lead two creative writing workshops for middle school students, ages 11-14. They will be able to share and collaborate with other writers face-to-face over four sessions and via our Summer Reading Teen Writers’ Blog. Space in each workshop will be limited. Check our online calendar for more information on the Oak Park Library writing workshop and the Shawnee Library writing workshop.
